Privacy Policy

Effective date: 20 October 2026

Japandi Living collects as little as it can. We never sell your personal information, and analytics only runs if you say yes.

Who we are

Japandi Living (japandi.artblibs.com) is run by artblibs. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean artblibs. You can reach us at info@artblibs.com.

What we collect

When you ask for the Free Japandi Starter Guide. The form on our pages asks only for your email address. Under it is a box, unticked to start with, for our occasional emails. You get the guide either way. We store:

  • your email address, which guide you asked for and the page you signed up on;
  • whether you ticked the box for our emails, and if you did, the date and time and the exact wording you agreed to;
  • the date and time you signed up;
  • your browser type (user agent) and a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, used only to stop spam. We never store your IP address itself.

The form also has a hidden field that people never see. It only catches automated spam.

Things you send us. There are no accounts and no comments. If you email us, we receive your address, your name if you include it, and what you write.

Server logs. Our web host (Hostinger) keeps standard logs of each visit: IP address, browser type, the page asked for, the referring page, and the date and time. They keep the site running and secure.

Analytics, only with your consent. If you click "Accept" in the cookie notice, Google Analytics loads. It sets cookies whose names start with _ga and records the pages you view, how long you stay, your device and browser type, and an approximate location from your IP address. It runs with Google signals and ad personalisation switched off. If you choose "Essential only", it never loads.

Storage on your device. The site keeps two small items in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device:

  • japandi-consent remembers your cookie choice (whether analytics is allowed, the date, and whether your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal). It is never sent to us.
  • japandi-guide-starter-guide remembers that you asked for the Starter Guide, so the download page can give you the link again. It holds a signed code, never your email address. When you open the download page, your browser sends this code to our server only to check that it is still valid.

How we use it

  • To give you the guide you asked for.
  • To send you our occasional emails about Japandi living, but only if you ticked the box.
  • To answer your emails.
  • To protect the form from spam and abuse.
  • To run, secure and fix the site.
  • With your consent: to see which pages are read, so we can improve them.
  • To meet legal duties and protect our rights if we ever need to.

Why we may use it

If you are in the UK or the EU, the law asks us to name a lawful basis for each use:

  • The guide. We need your email address to give you what you asked for.
  • Our emails. Your consent, given by ticking the box. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email, or by writing to us.
  • Spam protection, server logs and replies to your emails. Our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe and answering you.
  • Analytics. Your consent, given by clicking "Accept".

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising (as those terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA). We use a few service providers who process limited data for us:

  • Hostinger, our web host. It stores the site, the signup list (on our own server, not with an email service) and the server logs.
  • Google Fonts, which serves the site's two fonts. Your browser contacts Google to load them, so Google receives your IP address and browser details.
  • Google Analytics, only if you click "Accept".
  • Lemon Squeezy, which runs the checkout when you buy a digital bundle. It collects what it needs for the order under its own privacy policy. We receive the order details, never your full card number.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of our visitors or ourselves.

Some links, mostly on the Shop page, are Amazon affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. When you follow a link to Amazon, Pinterest or another site, you leave Japandi Living. That site may set its own cookies, and its own privacy policy applies.

Cookies and your choices

Essential storage. The two local storage items above are needed for the site to work as you expect. They hold nothing about who you are and stay until you clear your browser data.

Global Privacy Control. We honour GPC. If your browser sends it, analytics stays off and the cookie notice does not appear. You can still open it and click "Accept".

Do Not Track. There is no agreed standard for Do Not Track signals, so we do not respond to them separately. Analytics is off unless you opt in.

Change your mind. Use "Cookie settings" at the foot of every page, or this button:

How long we keep it

We keep your signup until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you did not tick the box, we use your address only to give you the guide. Server logs are kept by our host for a short period for security. Analytics data, if you allowed it, is kept by Google for the period set in our Google Analytics account.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to receive a copy. You can object to its use or withdraw your consent at any time. Write to info@artblibs.com. If you are in the UK or the EU, you may also complain to your data protection authority. US residents: see Opt-out preferences.

Children

This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update it here and change the date at the top.
